Sarah L. Hughes, M.M.S., PA-C
Clinician and Founder of bellobella
I have a long background in medicine, having worked in medical settings since the age of 18, and obtaining a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Arizona State University before attending PA school at Midwestern University Glendale from 1999-2001. Since graduation, I have taught medicine both at Midwestern University–Glendale and at Missouri State University, as well as working clinically in urgent care, orthopedics, trauma/general surgery and primary care. I have also completed coursework towards a PhD in International Health from Touro University.
I was motivated to open this company due to observing the frustration of so many of my primary care patients struggle with weight gain and not having affordable access to the latest and most effective weight loss drugs.
The difference in practicing primary medicine today compared to just 15 years ago is that now patients are very motivated to improve their health, most especially through exercise, weight loss and healthy diet. My favorite part of being a primary care clinician is guiding and motivating patients to achieve these goals.
I decided to focus on this area of medicine to help break down the barriers patients have to obtain access to these ground breaking new weight loss drugs that have been proven to have an effectiveness similar to bariatric surgery.
I look forward meeting you and helping you reach your optimal health and weight loss goals!

Future Collaborating Physician
I retired 3 years ago from a 42-year career in primary care that started in Baltimore, Maryland working for the U.S. Coastguard, and then the last 40 years in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona. I was always known by my patients as a health nut, eating fruit and vegetables for lunch and going to the gym daily. Since I retired, I mostly spend my time at the gym or in some other physical activity such as golf, bicycling or pickle ball. This company has inspired me to re-obtain my license to practice medicine in order to share my knowledge on health and fitness that has enabled me to stay so able and active my entire life and hopefully for decades more to come.

“In the hands of a compassionate clinician, healing becomes a partnership—every patient’s journey is a testament to the strength of empathy in healing. A clinician’s true power lies not just in their knowledge, but in their ability to heal with kindness, understanding, and a commitment to the well-being of each patient”
